Dry Skin Blues

Dry skin: it’s a fact of life when you spend an extended amount of time in chlorinated or brominated pools. It’s even worse if you basically live in the pool.

Luckily, the remedy for this irritating problem is rather easy…use lotion. Every time you get out of the pool, even after you shower – you’re going to want to put on lotion. I know it’s going to feel like a losing battle because it’s such a chore, but it is what it is.

So what lotion is best? Basically you want to avoid really greasy lotions that’ll get all over your clothes. Here’s the kicker: you’re likely going to need one lotion for your body and one for your face.

Here’s the deal with your face: you’re much better off using an oil-free moisturizer product. That oily lotion isn’t going to help your acne (if you have it, and yeah it can go well past your teenage years). I’ve been using a Clinique moisturizing gel product for roughly 15 years. It’s great for those with oily skin and is scent-free. Usually one…maybe two pumps is enough lotion for my face. Depending on the size of the bottle it can last a really long time.
